Amazing Sounds of the 80's
On this page I'd like to recommend some of the old 80's bands NEW music! I don't think they should be linked as ONLY an old 80's sounding band, just because they started in the 80's, and maybe still sound like the 80's. The reason is, it's MUSIC! And stereotyping something like "Geez, that's 80's music!!!!" is very shallow indeed! SO WHAT if it sounds like 80's music!! It's NEW, it's FRESH, and it's EASY on the ears, AND it's 2000+ music with an old flair of past experience!!!! Why on earth can't we have music that sounds good, regardless of the "SOUND of the YEAR?!!" Makes no sense to label such things, all music has a place, no matter.
Just because they aren't a NEW band, doesn't mean that they won't be new to our kids, and many people still wish you could understand what these bands are saying. lol
Just like fashion keeps coming back in, why can't music? I know many young people who love some of those old bands, because it reminds them of their parents or whatever. Heck, I still like 50's music because of that!
Keep an OPEN MIND, and listening won't actually hurt as bad as just giving it a try for old times sake. Give `em a chance, and I'm sure anyone would like some of this stuff. Don't stereotype it just because of who it is. Get some Kahoonies and be your own person with your own musical tastes!
I just purchased Billy Idol's newest CD. Unfortunately, it was released last year (2005) and I didn't even hear about it, which is really sad.. That said, it's still NEW to me. It's called Devil's Playground, and is probably his best recording ever. I LOVE IT! If you are a Billy fan, you will love it. Some of the songs are quite amazing, and he still hangs out with his guitar genius Steve Stevens, and as always I was floored by his talented guitar work! Billy's vocals are ON, to say the least. He's got a 90's sound to him, but his voice is hauntingly amazing! I get chills on some songs.
Also you might want to grab hold of his NEW (and only) Christmas CD "Happy Holidays." Very Cool Collection of Billy singing contemporary musical holiday songs. He sounds REAL good doing these simple songs, but he says are not the easiest for him to sing. This CD GRABBED my heart instantly. Billy Idol is AMAZING!!!!
I heard but haven't gotten CD's by these guys yet...but I'm searching for them...deciding to come back into the lights. Fantastic!
Hall and Oats, John Waite, Cory Hart, Billy Squire, Duran Duran, Tears For Fears, Guns & Roses, Motley Crue...and that's only naming a few. I think The Outfield is still going strong too. Of course, U2 is an 80's band, but do they still consider that???
